Roads - Highways in Sweden.

Sweden has 162,707 km of paved roads and 1,428 km of motorways,Motorways run through Sweden and over the Öresund Bridge to Denmark,Sweden had left-hand traffic (vänstertrafik in Swedish) since around 1736,but after the Riksdag passed legislation in 1963,the change took place on 3 September 1967,known in Swedish as Dagen H.
Transportation in Sweden is available for all four main modes of transport – air, bus, ferry and rail – helping residents and visitors without their own vehicle to travel across most of Sweden's 450,295 square kilometres (173,860 sq mi). Sweden has right-hand traffic today, like all of its neighbours.
Sweden had left-hand traffic (Vänstertrafik in Swedish) since around 1736 and continued to do so until 1967,Despite this, almost all cars in Sweden were actually left-hand drive and neighboring Nordic countries already drove on the right, leading to confusion among visitors,Swedish voters rejected a change to right-hand driving in a referendum held in 1955.
However,in 1963,the Riksdag passed legislation mandating the switch to right-hand traffic,The switch took place on Sunday morning at 5 am on 3 September 1967,which was known in Swedish as Dagen H (H-Day),where the 'H' stands for Högertrafik or right-hand traffic.
Since Swedish cars were left-hand drive, experts had suggested that switching to right-hand drive would reduce accidents, because drivers would have a better view of the road ahead,Indeed, fatal car-to-car and car-pedestrian accidents fell significantly as a result,This was likely due to the greater care taken by drivers initially and the very low speed limits initially,as the accident rate soon returned to almost the same level as before. Total road length: 572,900 km,as of 2009.
Motorways.
Motorways run through Sweden,Denmark and over the Öresund Bridge to Stockholm,Gothenburg,Uppsala and Uddevalla,The motorway system is still being expanded,The longest continuous motorways are Värnamo-Gävle (E4; 585 km) and the Norwegian border-Vellinge (E6; 482 km; after the motorway between Trelleborg and Oslo in Norway was completed in 2015).
